The New England Colonies are very exciting to learn about, so I will tell you a few things about the New England Colonies. First of all if your learning about this colony in school like I am you should know that the New England Colonies are also called the North Colonies so if you are confused about the things online they are also called the North Colonies or The North. There are four colonies in the New England Colonies, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. The Pilgrims were the first group to settle in The New England Colonies/ The North Colonies. The Pilgrims came from Great Britain. They came over on a ship called the Mayflower in 1620.They arrived at the start of winter. It was very cold that winter. The Pilgrims didn't have much food. Many of the Pilgrims died that winter.
The second group of settlers was the Puritans. They came to make a new church. They arrived in 1629. The Puritans were promised land. They had a charter. The Puritans brought a LOT of food. The Puritans also wanted to make their own rules. They made lots of rules. Everyone in the colony had to follow them. Some people were unhappy. Some people left Massachusetts. They started their own colonies. That is how the rest of the colonies began.
